01/03/2010 - A software archive page has been put together with a few pieces from our collection available via HTTP. It features older versions of Mac software for the 68K platforms. The page is located at http://68k.preterhuman.net.

11/26/2009 - The Higher Intellect Wiki goes live. This will act as a collaboration tool allowing users to submit and modify content. The wiki will also feature articles relevant to digital libraries.

11/11/2009 - New forum software goes live, and new articles are being introduced to help complete the site. The search engine will also be going through a re-index as the text archive has gone through some changes.

04/01/2009 - Old failing server hardware is replaced with a dual core AMD based system. Changes to the storage layout and filesystems are causing a delay in data transfer.

09/01/2008 - Server hardware goes back online in the Rackster datacenter facility.

06/01/2007 - The search feature on preterhuman.net may not return full results over the next 2 weeks, as the database is being re-indexed using a different method. This will allow better re-index management in the future.

12/18/2006 - The preterhuman.net network is now the official Canadian mirror for textfiles.com. The mirror can be accessed using the URL http://mirror3.preterhuman.net/textfiles/

05/15/2006 - The central preterhuman.net file server has been moved into co-location at a local datacenter. This will provide much faster access and availability to clients.

10/01/2005 - The preterhuman.net network is back up on a different ISP. In the coming months, the servers will be relocated to a dedicated line at a co-location datacenter to assist with our growing bandwidth needs.

09/08/2004 - We have introduced the preterhuman.net forums and will soon require registration in order to access the text file archive. This will assist in reducing abused bandwidth by automated download software and allow more bandwidth for legitimate users.

02/13/2004 - We are implementing new features on the server. The way the text archive indexes may be changed and you will notice download speeds from the archive now move very slowly during peak times. A bandwidth cap as been set to allow our newer services the resources to operate.

08/07/2003 - Users of French ISPs Wanadoo and Numericable will be unable to access all servers hosted by preterhuman.net. Our servers have been constantly attacked by a number of machines which forced us to completely block access from those networks.

05/18/2003 - You will begin to notice changes to the Higher Intellect site. We are aiming to include more content on the index page and to also implement some form of PHP directory listing for the text file section. Another priority is to add a frame with a PayPal donation link to the text file section in an effort to increase the number of donations.

05/18/2003 - The server will be going offline at 11:00PM (PST) for a hardware upgrade. Services will be restored at 11:30PM (PST).
